Alyssa Gay

Hi there, I’m Alyssa! I was born and raised here in Manatee County. Throughout my upbringing, I didn’t appreciate the community – but now, I am an advocate for it! Whether it is our beautiful beaches, enjoying the Manatee River, our preserves and parks, or any number of the amazing restaurants, shopping experiences, non-profits, or other events, there truly isn’t a better place to live, work, and play!

I founded my digital marketing agency, Alyssa Gay Consulting, in 2017 to give companies an online voice who otherwise wouldn’t have the time to do so. We have the privilege to partner with local and national brands, creating buzz-worthy social media & digital marketing strategies designed to take their business to the next level.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m married to my husband, Taylor, and we’re celebrating our 7th anniversary this month. We met in high school, but are no means high school sweethearts. We have one rescue pup, Bentley, whom we are a bit obsessed with. We enjoy traveling, great meals, and enjoying old Florida outdoors.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, and being surrounded by other small business owners, I witnessed firsthand how challenging it is for them to manage and maintain a social media presence while also keeping their businesses running. I watched them try to adapt and keep up, but I continuously watched burnout occur with each of them. With a background in communications and a passion for storytelling – and a strong entrepreneurial spirit – Alyssa Gay Consulting was born to give companies an online voice who otherwise wouldn’t have the time to do so. Now, we partner with clients, giving them the power and effectiveness of a full-service social media and digital marketing firm, but with the personal touch of a boutique agency.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
In LWR, The Granary and Station 400 are my breakfast/lunch/brunch go-tos! Capital Grille is our favorite restaurant for a good steak. Shore is probably my favorite local restaurant!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Born & raised – going on 29 years!

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I had the privilege of being in last year’s Leadership Manatee class with Dr. Richard Conard. He has been in our community for years and has been a pillar in Manatee County. I could soak up his knowledge and wisdom all day.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Our annual lobster trip to the Abacos was unfortunately cancelled this year due to COVID. So, I would head there to soak up the sun, saltwater, and the culture.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I’m more of a TV show binge watcher. Presently that has included The Office, Dead to Me, and Younger.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Take the risk. Don’t be afraid to fail.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
My husband’s lineage is Italian and mine is Greek. We want to take a heritage trip to both countries and see where our family lineage began!

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
This entirely depends on my mood – but I’ve been loving NeedToBreathe’s newest album lately!

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Shake Pit in West Bradenton! I grew up on the west side of town and my brothers went to Manatee High. I fondly remember nights at Shake Pit after football games and wrestling matches.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
It’s tough to choose just one, but I think Queen Elizabeth II. I would love to hear about how she unexpectedly became a monarch, her wisdom from all that she has seen and experienced, and learn how she gracefully carries on through life. I would likely take her to Shore.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Our community has it all! Small town charm, with big city amenities – all while still preserving the gorgeous Florida landscape.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Right here! I plan to live out my days here, supporting our community, growing Alyssa Gay Consulting, and partnering with more business owners!

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I hate hot coffee.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
It’s a tie between France & Alaska. Both are gorgeous for their own reasons.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
November. Thanksgiving!

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A relaxing day soaking in all that our community has to offer! Starting with a delicious breakfast, exploring a preserve/park, lunch at Shore, shopping local businesses, coffee from Atria, wrapped up with dinner at Capital Grille.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My YiaYia, Cleopatra.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
My school was located centrally in town. If you walked out the front doors, you would smell oranges from Tropicana and out the back doors you would smell fresh bread from Flowers Bakery. Those smells perfectly encapsulate the area.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family, friends, food.
