Karen Medford

A New England native, I have lived in many places including Los Angeles and NYC, before settling in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Having worked in the music and medical industries, and constantly traveling, I couldn’t wait to finally have a place to call home. We relocated to Lakewood Ranch to be closer to my parents, and I soon realized that this was where we wanted to stay, start a business , give back to the community and raise our two daughters, Ava and Mya.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband Richard is my partner at work and in life. We have 2 beautiful sassy daughters Ava (8) and Mya (4).

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I graduated from Western New England University in English – Communications, and moved to Los Angeles after graduation to work in the music industry. I eventually moved on to medical genetics (sales) for the next ten years prior to moving to Florida. A wellness and beauty enthusiast, I saw the need to provide a haven for the Lakewood Ranch community with Sirius Day Spas. Sirius was created for all your spa needs in one luxurious space including hair, nails, massage, acupuncture, facial treatments, waxing and more. I love to see our guests and members after their services. We have an amazing team (whom I love) and they work hard to make the ultimate experience. I love seeing their smiles as well as giving back to the community through volunteering and fundraising.

the Granary, the Grove, Libby’s, Paris Bistrot, Speaks, we love eating out!

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Main St Lakewood Ranch in general. When we first started looking to relocate to this area, the whole area including the mini golf, theatre and restaurants was so special to us.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Richard Branson – he has been an inspiration to me going way back to my music days. He is so intelligent and vivacious that I could listen to his stories all day. We would likely meet outside for lunch at the Grove as I imagine we would be there awhile!

It is multi-generational – I love seeing families that have their parents and so on here. I also love seeing friends everywhere we go from the grocery store to the movies to the post office.
