For the past five years I’ve been the Event Consultant for ” Powell Promotions” and Restaurant Coordinator for “A Taste of Sarasota” I’m also the Ambassador for a local non-profit charity “Flight to The North Pole” this charity helps to raise money for critically ill children to help support them and their families with hospital and medical bills, the cost of living and to make a dream of theirs come true. This is put together by the Manatee County Sheriffs Office. I also help in organizing events to help raise money for another local non-profit charity, ” Hope For Children and Families” this charity provides clothing, food, shelter help with living expense, finding resources and grants for furthering education to rehabilitate families in the goal of keeping them together.I’m a firm believer in supporting our troops and veterans as the sacrifices they themselves and their families make are the ultimate. In my free or spare time I am a wife, mother and grandmother, whom loves to cook, bake and decorate.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My granparents came to America from Sicily, Italy. They owned food businesses which is where I got my love and experiance for the food industry at a young age. This path led to eventually owning and operating a family restaurant in Bradenton, FL ” Fillipone’s Pizza and Pasta” My daughter has a been a nurse in this community since 2003. My grandson followed in my footsteps and is a Kitchen Manager and Cook for a fine dinng Italian cuisine restaurant locally in Bradenton. My grandaughter is the manager of a local pizza restaurant.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
As far as my past and current career I’ve been in the food industry for 40 years, and as far as my future carer I will continue to promote and support resteraunts and my charities until I retire. It gives me great joy and satisfaction to serve and help others in my local community. I am a firm believer in giving back to my community.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
It would be unfair to name just one or a few as I fully support and stand by all the resteraunts i support and promote. I want everyone to succeed.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I am originally from New Jersey and moved to this area over 35 years ago.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Henry Lawrence Superbowl champion and NFL hall of famer. China the Dragon Smith Heavyweight boxing champion. Bello Noc world renouned DareDevil Clown and Circus Performer. John Moeller former White House Chef

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would love the oppertunity to travel to Italy where my anncestors originated from.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Musical talent shows and concerts are my favorite tv shows and my favorite movie is ” My Cousin Vinny”

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Tomorrow is never promised so cherrish your loved ones and remain humble.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I would love to travel the world

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Mels Diner is a memorable experiance as this is where my whole family would meet every Sunday for breakfast.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would choose a vetern and a family from my charity to get the oppertunityn to hear about their experiance, strenght, and hope. As far as the location it would be their choice and my honor and pleasure to treat them to a meal.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I think it’s an honor for our community to have the soilder and woman statue in our communty and it’s always decorated very festively for the Christmas holiday.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Retired and enjoying quality time with my family and friends.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a Jersey girl and I don’t pump gas.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
When my daughter was a young Girl Scout we won the cookie selling contest for our area which gave us a trip to beautiful, historic Savanah, Ga where the founder Juilet Lowe was from. What a great memory for both me and my daughter.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
My favorite month is October as this is my birth month, my favorite holiday is Christmas as I love to decorate and go around our community to see all the Christmas lights. Favorite single day is of course Mothers Day.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
My Nail tech of over sixteen years, she has always done an excellent job.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My husband and daughter inspire me for their courageous strength and faith.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
My daughter and I love a wide variety of scented candles, especially at fall time we like pumkin spice, and for the Christmas season we enjoy peppermint, pine cones, and the smell of a real christmas tree.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Home to me is having your family around enjoying a day of food fun and festivities.
